We had another productive day. We packed about 40 more boxes and can really see a difference. We figure that tomorrow will be much the same, then we'll be mostly problem-solving on Thursday. We have books that aren't on our list and listed books we can't find. It's a little confusing because there are so many different sets of books that are being handled by different people. However, we have those that are our responsibility well in hand. The provost said it would be a "triumph" if we could complete the job, and we should do that with time to spare! And all this with having a little wine at lunch! Maybe we should do that more often!
After dinner Fr. John walked us to his favorite gelato place. Even though it is fairly chilly, we had to have some gelato--our first since arriving (Sorry, Maria.) It was good to get out for a walk after all the standing around and hunching over tables all day long.
Tomorrow we'll break a bit early for dinner because the Assumption College president and students are coming. It will be fun to see them and to hear how their week is going. At Fr. John's suggestion we are going to ask if we can tag along on their tour of the Vatican Friday afternoon with an art history professor from Dusquesne (sp?). Even if we have to work Saturday, it would be worth it to join the tour. The two librarians who were here last time saw the Vatican only briefly and didn't get to see the Sistine Chapel, so they are interested in going on the tour. Of course I'm happy to hear what the professor has to say!
I think that's about it for today. We hear you're supposed to have beautiful weather back home. It's been chilly and a little rainy here, though certainly not as cold as the last time a team was here. There are some flowers in bloom as well as bright yellow mimosa trees. We're told that March 8th is the Festa della Donne (Festival of Women) and the traditional gift is a bunch of mimosa blooms.
