Land's End

Yesterday we hopped on the bus to see coastal Brittany.  The picture is from Pointe du Raz, the most western tip of Brittany.  Although it was too hazy to see the island off the coast, it was beautiful weather and a good day to be on the coast.

Our next stop was in a medieval village called Locronan. We had a good lunch at a very quaint restaurant. (Yes, I'm trying the seafood.) Locronan is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the country and has many artisans trying to keep old arts alive.

In the evening had a demonstration of Breton music and dance. The dancers were in beautiful traditional costumes. We even had a chance to learn a couple of the dances.  Breton used to dance at various celebratory occasions, of, course, but also when a new house was built and the dirt floor needed to be pounder down. The danced in their wooden sabots until the floor was solid.
